Turning Legal Services into Recurring Revenue

Service businesses share a common challenge:

How to stop trading time for money.

Many turn to software tools and digital products to create recurring revenue streams that work in the background. But building those tools - especially in a way that's automated, secure, and user-friendly - can get expensive fast. That's where FileGuru comes in.

FileGuru is a startup developed by TALG®, a multi-state business law firm, to simplify government filing for their clients.

The goal?

Turn a complicated legal process into a simple subscription-based product.

But they didn't just need a website. They needed a fully functional business engine - one that could attract leads, capture sensitive data, connect to a government API, and generate recurring revenue while remaining compliant and cost-effective.

These two are on top of their FinCEN compliance!

TALG came to Mazloy with a clear vision and a smart idea. Our job was to bring it to life using a tech stack that was flexible, budget-friendly, and ready to launch in months - not years. Here's how we helped turn FileGuru from concept to a revenue-ready platform.

Problem: Scaling Legal Services Without Scaling Costs

For years, TALG managed client filings manually. The process was time-consuming, expensive, and often frustrating. Clients didn't always know what forms they needed or how to complete them. TALG's team spent hours gathering missing information, preparing documents, and submitting filings. It worked - but it didn't scale. Revenue was tied directly to staff time, creating a ceiling the firm wanted to break through.

The solution they envisioned was a digital platform that guided users through the filing process, collected the right data, and submitted it automatically. This would allow clients to complete everything online while the firm shifted from billable hours to subscription-based revenue. That vision became FileGuru.

Like most startups, TALG needed to control costs. They wanted a system that looked professional, handled sensitive data securely, and could evolve over time - without the price tag of custom software. The platform had to function like a product, not just a brochure site. That meant deep form logic, PDF generation, customer account management, and integration with a government API.

They also lacked a deep content library to support traditional SEO. So, we built the site using Search Everywhere Optimization (SEvO), making it structured, fast, and ready for both search engines and generative platforms - even without dozens of blog posts.

Finally, the site had to support multiple stages of the buyer journey. Visitors needed to be captured, nurtured, and converted through a seamless, privacy-compliant experience. Everything from form design to compliance tools had to work together without friction.

Solution: The Smart Stack Behind the Platform

We delivered FileGuru using a modular tech stack that prioritized flexibility and speed. WordPress served as the foundation, with Divi enabling rapid design and layout customization. This approach gave us control over responsiveness, branding, and user experience - without the cost of a custom build.

The heart of the platform was its data intake system. We used Gravity Forms and the Quiz Add-On to create a multi-step form that captured complex user data, validated responses, and used conditional logic to streamline the experience. Breaking the form into smaller sections made it easier for users to complete with confidence.

ProfilePress was customized to collect and store customer data securely, creating accounts that synced with the government API. Stripe handled one-time and recurring payments, while submissions triggered automatic PDF generation and data transmission to the appropriate agency.

To support discoverability, we built the site with SEvO from day one. Structured metadata, clean semantic markup, fast-loading pages, and privacy-forward features ensured the site was optimized for both traditional search and AI engines. UserWay delivered accessibility compliance, and Complianz handled GDPR, CCPA, and cookie policy requirements.

We also focused on lead capture. For visitors not ready to convert, we used Divi Popups paired with Gravity Forms' HubSpot Add-On and FuseWP to tag, sync, and nurture prospects automatically. TALG could now guide potential customers with targeted emails, resources, and re-engagement campaigns.

When the government's API encountered issues, Mazloy stepped in to create an interim relay solution. This allowed FileGuru to stay fully functional while the agency addressed backend problems - protecting the user experience and maintaining the brand's credibility.

Success: Delivering Results, Not Just Features

Within months of starting the project, FileGuru went live and started generating value. The once-manual legal filing process was now completely digital. Clients could fill out forms, submit data, and make payments online - without needing phone calls, meetings, or paperwork. TALG transformed a hands-on service into a hands-off revenue stream.

The platform worked seamlessly. Users submitted accurate data, payments processed instantly, and PDFs were generated and transmitted via API. TALG's team no longer had to spend hours on administrative tasks. Instead, FileGuru handled everything automatically, freeing up internal resources and reducing operational overhead.

When the API faltered, the system kept running. Thanks to the relay Mazloy implemented, users experienced no downtime. TALG stayed on schedule, launched confidently, and avoided customer friction - strengthening trust from day one.

Lead capture efforts also paid off. With HubSpot and FuseWP in place, FileGuru began building a pipeline of warm leads. Visitors who weren't ready to file received helpful content, reminders, and follow-up emails - moving them closer to conversion.

Our SEvO strategy helped the site rank quickly in Google and gain visibility in generative search tools like ChatGPT and Perplexity. This boosted organic traffic and positioned FileGuru as a trustworthy option in a competitive legal-tech space.

Most importantly, TALG didn't just get a website - they launched a digital product with real business impact. FileGuru now attracts, converts, and retains customers on autopilot. And because the platform is built to scale, new filing types and features can be added without disruption.

Turning an Idea Into an Engine

FileGuru proves that startups can launch functional, scalable platforms without overspending. With smart tools, thoughtful integrations, and a strong foundation, TALG turned a manual process into a recurring revenue engine that runs around the clock.

From lead generation and automation to secure data workflows and search visibility, the system was built to grow. As TALG's product roadmap evolves, the infrastructure is ready to evolve with it - no rebuild required.
