SEO Marketing Is Important For Your Business

SEO marketing is an important topic to know about! What is SEO in marketing terms?

There are different ways to market online such as social media, local, pay-per-click, and SEO. Those are some of the bigger ones, and you’ve likely heard of a lot of them. Anyways, SEO stands for search engine optimization.

Particularly, we’re talking about Google. There are other search engines out there like Bing, Yahoo, and even YouTube. But, when people say SEO they mean Google almost 100% of the time, with the slim exception of YouTube on occasion.

The Algorithm

Okay, so SEO is search engine optimization for Google. You could call it Google optimization.

So Google optimization, search engine optimization, means knowing Google’s infamous algorithm. To clarify, it changes all the time and has a bazillion different variables that go into it. It’s important to make the content on your website in compliance with the algorithm. That’s the key!

The reason for this is because you want your website to get to the top of Google. So, when people search for something they find you. To that end, in a nutshell, that’s what search engine marketing is.

Now that we know what SEO is, let’s talk about what SEO marketing is. As I have said, there is a lot of different types of online marketing so there are a lot of different ways to achieve SEO. That’s what I’m calling SEO marketing.

So the most important factor across any of those different types of SEO marketing is content. Content is king. Content takes a lot of effort to generate. You almost have to be an expert in what you’re doing to put relevant content into the industry. I can’t grab some random person off the street and say, “Hey, talk about SEO for a couple of minutes.” That may be entertaining, it might not be what people are looking for when they click on your website.

Modernize Your Marketing

So, you have to be an expert, and it can take a lot of effort for experts to create content. But unfortunately, content is the key, critical piece to SEO.

So before you do any SEO marketing whatsoever, it all starts with content. You have to figure out how you’re going to generate that content.

Now, when it comes to making content, the common way to do it is to sit down at your computer, grab a cup of tea, and start typing. That’s awesome, and it can be a lot of fun, and some people are amazing at it but it can also be time-consuming.

Some people can create giant blog posts, giant pages for their website in an hour, and that blows my mind. I’m super impressed by it. Others aren’t as good, so what we do, and one of the more modern ways, is taking videos and having transcripts made. It’s an alternative way to create content for your website.

Content Is King

With this in mind, content is king. But, some of the different basic types of SEO marketing are blogging, which is what we advocate. Furthermore, there is an on-page SEO. This is taking the content you already have dialing it in, doing research, and tightening it up. That is phenomenal as well!

Also, there’s YouTube SEO. There are so many different ways that you can achieve SEO marketing, but it all starts with content. It’s all referring to content that you’re putting out there on the internet that’s going to live for a long time. So, you can do a good job with it and let it sit!

That’s what SEO marketing is, and where SEO has its place in the world of marketing. As opposed to pay-per-click, where you pay a lot of money and it shoots right to the top, but when you stop paying it goes away. Now, that’s a very awesome, viable marketing option, but so is SEO, social, and all the other ones that are out there.

The Cost Of Good SEO Marketing

Now let’s talk about how much does it cost? Well, depending on who you ask, you will get different answers. Usually, SEO ranges from about $500 a month to the $10,000-to-$15,000-a-month range.

I’ll break that down a little bit for you. So $500 a month is where you will get a company like yp.com, and I’m going to namedrop them because they suck. You’re going to get them to come in and help they will end up doing nothing for you, so don’t sign up for them. (I hope I get a cease-and-desist from them. I don’t care.)

Those bottom-of-the-barrel, absolute worst companies are going to get you. They’re predatory, they’re going to get you to sign up, and they’re going to do nothing for you. Try it out if you want to, but I wouldn’t recommend it.

Whereas you have companies that are going to do amazing and beautiful work for you, but it’s going to cost a lot of money. The content you get back will have infographics, comparison charts, and will be the best out there. But, it’s expensive.

The Tricky Part

That’s where it gets tricky because marketing is all about return on investment. We’re not marketing to shout into the void or anything like that. We want to get something back.

There’s a specific measurable, and when SEO gets to that price range, it gets difficult to see an ROI. SEO is a numbers game for me. When it comes to good SEO, it’s about creating enough content that you can test out. That way you can see where people are actually connecting with you. Then you might double down on that term and add all the awesome graphics and redo some of the content. Google loves that, by the way.

So anyway, that’s the extreme ends of the spectrum. I’ve talked to a lot of companies that do SEO that are closer to the $1,000 range that do a great job. Our company is a little bit closer to the $2,000-to-$3000 range if we’re helping you film videos. We love what we do, and we hope we can help you with that.

To summarize I would recommend to first measure what your output is and measure what your ROI is. Then find the company that works best for you there.
